An insight to what we will cover:

Sea swim sessions involving and including the swim start and tactics, sighting, turning techniques,swim pacing, drafting, quick wetsuit removal.

Swim drills and sets in the 25m Pool(video analysis for a small nominal fee)

Various rides covering most of the Ironman course, long distance pacing, using a power meter, cornering techniques, aerodynamics, gear selection and rpm, climbing techniques.

Timed race hill climb competition.

Time Trial(was a big hit in 2019)

Running technique and the science of running, looking through some video analysis of the Pro's, run pacing for Ironman and 70.3 races, Ironman running, brick sessions why & when, secrets to fast run splits off the bike.

Transition training, mounting & dismounting, best practice and fast transitions

Race nutrition, best practice, hydration, common mistakes made.

Lectures and practical sessions will be taking place for the swim and a Sports Therapy session and lecture by Newcastle United Football Club Therapist.

The idea of the training camp is to train like a professional for 1 week, whilst providing you with the facilities and a relaxed environment to enable you to train and learn to your maximum. At a crucial time of your training schedule for the forthcoming year this is the chance to really make it count. Although this is a relaxed training camp, we ask that all athletes attending should be able to do the minimum requirement of:
swim 750 metres, cycle 30 miles and run 5 miles.

The planning and organising that went into the week was meticulous, from the logistics, to the transport, to the food and each of the individual training sessions that were planned in for everyone on a daily basis. I especially liked how individual training could be tailored to suit your discipline which in my case was cycling. Sign me up for the next one!

First ever training camp and I cannot think how it could have been better. The facilities were first class and the staff/ support team were very approachable and made a tough week so much easier.
